Frequently Asked Questions

What is ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching is a practical, collaborative way of working that focuses on how your brain operates in day-to-day life.

Rather than offering generic advice, we look at what’s actually getting in the way for you — whether that’s overwhelm, procrastination, emotional regulation, or follow-through — and develop ways of working that fit you.

It’s not about fixing you — it’s about understanding how your brain works and building strategies that are realistic and sustainable.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching focuses on practical, forward-looking strategies and taking action, whereas therapy often explores past experiences and emotional processing in more depth.

ADHD coaching is a practical, supportive process focused on helping you navigate day-to-day life in a way that works for you. Together, we put realistic tools and strategies in place to support with things like overwhelm, focus, organisation, and follow-through.

We also work towards clear, actionable goals that feel meaningful and achievable. It’s a safe, non-judgemental space where you’re supported by someone who understands ADHD from both a professional and lived experience perspective. Coaching isn’t about being told what to do — it’s about helping you understand yourself better and find the strategies and answers that work for you.

What is the executive functioning framework?

Executive functioning refers to the mental processes that help you manage everyday life - things like planning, organisation, starting tasks, regulating emotions and staying focused.

In coaching, we use this framework to understand where things feel difficult and why. This helps shift away from self-blame and towards practical strategies that actually work for your brain.

What is your approach to coaching?

My approach is collaborative, non-judgement and grounded in real life.

I’m not here to tell you what to do or hold you to unrealistic standards. Instead, we work together to understand what’s going on for you and find ways forward that feel doable.

I’m also mindful of how things like trauma, recovery and wider systemic factors can influence how ADHD shows up.

Who do you work with?

I work with a range of individuals, including adults, young people, and those supporting someone with ADHD. This includes people who are newly or late diagnosed, have no diagnosis, on a waiting list, unsure if they might have ADHD, or supporting a child, partner or loved one.

My work is shaped by experience across education, the charity sectory, recovery and criminal justice settings, and I’m particularly mindful of the complexity that can come with ADHD. You don’t need to fit into a specific category — if you’re looking for ADHD-informed support that feels understanding, practical, and personalised, you’re welcome here.

What areas do you support with?

ADHD shows up differently for everyone, so the focus of our work is always tailored to you. Some of the areas we might explore include understanding how ADHD shows up for you, managing overwhelm, time management, reducing procrastination, improving focus, building routines, functional organisation, navigating burnout, and building self-trust.

We’ll focus on what feels most important to you — you don’t need to tackle everything at once.

What’s your story?

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 30, and I understand first-hand the impact of unmanaged ADHD — from overwhelm and anxiety to burnout — alongside the relief of finally making sense of things.

With a background in the creative industries, primary education and the charity sector, I bring both lived and professional experience to my work. I’m passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals — both young people and adults — to better understand their brains and feel more in control. Together, we explore ways of working that suit you, helping you work with your brain, not against it, and build practical, realistic strategies that truly fit your life.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis?

No - you don’t need a formal diagnosis to work with me.

How does coaching work?

Coaching takes place in regular one-to-one sessions online via Microsoft Teams.

We’ll use the space to explore what’s coming up for you, work through challenges and develop strategies you can try between sessions.

There’s no rigid structure - sessions are shaped around what you need.

How long are sessions?

Each session lasts 60 minutes.

How often do we meet?

I begin with weekly sessions to help build momentum, consistency and trust in the process.

As things progress, we can review what level of support feels right for you.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on what you’d like to work on, but meaningful change takes time - especially when working with ADHD.

I usually recommend committing to at least 12 sessions (around 3 months), as this allows space to build understanding, try strategies and create lasting change.

Some people choose to continue beyond this, depending on their needs.

Is coaching a quick fix?

No - coaching isn’t about quick fixes.

It’s a process of building awareness, trying things out, and creating approaches that genuinely work for you. This takes time, but leads to more sustainable change.

Who did you train with?

I completed my ADHD coaching training with ADHD Works.

Alongside formal training, my approach is grounded in lived experience and my work within education, recovery and criminal justice services.
